Done with JEE Main? Then you must be waiting for the JEE Main 2019 result.

And after that?

You will start searching for best possible college and Department which fits your rank. That college can be NIIT or IIIT. Is there any other choice for colleges available?

Well, In fact there is. They are GFTI.

Many students just focus on IIT, NIT, IIIT and BITSAT. But sometimes things do not turn out the way you plan.

Government of India provide constant funding to certain colleges which are not IIT, NIT or IIIT. These are GFTI ( Government Funded Technical Institutes).

Some of these GFTI’s are better than NIT’s and IIIT’s. And like you most of the students ignore this colleges so the chances are you can get admission in these colleges despite your rank being in 60,000.

A top notch government college with 60,000 rank. What else you want!

How to get admission in GFTI’s?

Admissions to GFTIs are through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). JEE main is the main examination conducted in India on a National level for admission into premier institutes like NITs, IITs and GFTIs. Few years back it was conducted by CBSE. But from 2018 onward JoSAA is conducting the examination. On the basis of the All India Rank secured by them in the JEE main examination students will be admitted to the 23 GFTIs all over India. For undergraduate programmes there is a total of 4236 seats.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authority which is responsibly for admissions into GFTIs. Candidates who appear in JEE main and clear the required cut-off set for each institution will be admitted. The cut-off marks will be decided by the authorities each year. Candidates who clear the cut-off will be admitted on the basis of merit. Candidates should also make a payment of seat acceptance fee. The seat acceptance fee is dependent on the respective institutions.

The cut-off marks and percentages required for GFTIs for academic year 2019 will be released along with the JEE main results. The JEE Main 2019 result will be declared on April 30 for Paper 1 whereas Paper 2 result will be declared on May 15.

GFTI 2019 Counselling:

Getting into GFTIs is as same other colleges through JEE. Candidates must attend the counselling process. Candidates have to register themselves online through the official website of JoSAA.

Candidates who qualify JEE mains are qualified to apply for admissions in GFTIs across India. There is a Choice filling process where candidates have to choose their preferred Institution and courses or programs offered.

After choice filling is done candidates are selected and called into respective institutes based on merit. The GFTIs consider their rank and score achieved in JEE mains and also the category in which they belong.

After they are selected, candidates will be called on to reporting centres. Here document verification and other processes takes place which completes the admission process.

Documents required for this process are: Class 10th and 12th marksheet, Transfer certificate, Seat allotment letter, JEE main 2019 admit card and score card, Date of birth proof, Three passport size photographs, Category certificate and medical certificate.
