JEE main and advanced – Industry and Production Engineering

What is Industry and Production Engineering?

Industry and Production Engineering takes an interdisciplinary approach to engineering. It is engineering procedures in manufacturing and production. A Production Engineer improves efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing and service sector industries.

Production engineers define how to produce something, including what machines to use. They also are responsible for efficiency and safety during production. They must find methods for eliminating waste.

As long as there is a production line and a process, a production engineer will be nearby.

What they do?

A production engineer will follow the manufacturing process from start to finish. After identifying the options of production, they will test & review it to best process. Then the process will put up to industrial strength. And ally a high-pressure job.

Typical responsibilities of production engineers include
  • Production schedules, engineering specification
  • Manufacturing processes and production lines
  • Development of management control systems
  • Quality control procedures
  • Interaction with clients for product specifications
These engineers decide how to get the work done. They have to consider time, workers, technology, cost, product, safety and environmental protections.

Some industrial engineers will focus on the automation of manufacturing procedures. They design systems that use materials, computer networks, and robotics.

What colleges teach to an Undergraduate Students?

University programs will include classroom studies as well as laboratory experience. You will study mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science together with statistics, production systems planning, manufacturing systems design, among others.

This department is a derivative of Mechanical Engineering. Therefore a lot of courses are from Mechanical Department.

What is the starting salary?

A graduate degree will allow you to work as a professor or to work in research and development. Monthly salaries can average from Rs.50000 to R.s. 1,50,000 on upward as an entry-level employee.

Top recruiter for this department are General Motors, Maruti, Schlumberger, JSW etc.

Bascically any company with Mechanical Background can hire a Production Engineer.

A lot of PSU’s take candidates through their GATE score. But they have to appear in Mechanical Engineering stream of GATE. This is not very difficult because a lot of courses are common in both departments.
Students who can not get admission in Mechanical, opt for this department instead.

Important Qualities Of Industry and Production Engineer

  • Critical-thinking: to solve problems related to waste and inefficiency.
  • Listening: to consider feedback from customers and production staff.
  • Mathematical: calculus, trigonometry and advanced concepts for analysis, design and problem resolution.
  • Speaking: to explain procedures to production staff.
  • Writing: to create documentation for future reference.
  • Problem-solving: to deal with several issues from quality to safety.
  • Creativity: to design new processes and to economize resources, time and labor.

Higher Studies and Other Competetive Exams

You have to take GATE exam if you want to do M.Tech. The GATE syllabus for Industrial Engineering will aid in preparing you for this exam. The GATE exam features a General Aptitude Section as well. GATE scores are valid for two years.

NITIE Mumbai is among the top Institutes for M.Tech.

The I.A.S. or civil service exam is also an option, requiring in-depth preparation. All engineers are well suited for IAS exam due to the difficulty of engineering.

Industrial Engineering principles are necessary for so many areas. If every business had an industrial engineer trained in work-study and facility planning, they would have fewer safety issues, production difficulties or cost issues.

JEE main and advanced : How to study when you are sick?

Industrial engineers work in every sector. So whether you prefer manufacturing, technology, retail, hardware or healthcare, as an industrial engineer you’ll find your job in the marketplace.
