JEE main and advanced – Metallurgical Engineering

Jee main and advanced metallurgy engineering
After JEE main and advanced exam the first thing comes in mind is which department you should take admission. So today I will be talking about Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
Did you know Sunder Pichai has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering. Metallurgical engineers are a kind of engineering geologist. This career choice requires an extensive understanding of the sciences. They work with the logistics of mines and mining in general. Metallurgy Engineer work for existing mines and for the creation of new mines. They help to plan the mines as they evolve underground.

What METALLURGY Engineer do?

They are particularly involved in ensuring the environmental safety of & in the mines. A metallurgical engir. will supervise the processes of moving material out of the mine. He or she will assist in coordinating the moving of people in and out of the mines on a daily basis. They oversee the construction of new mine shafts and check efficiency. In the same time check the procedures used in the mines and any eventual need for improvement. They are involved in day-to-day operations. They should also ensure that the mine runs with sustainability and pollution control.

JEE main and advanced : How to study more in lesser time?

These engineers often work:
  • In remote mining facilities
  • At gravel pits near urban centers
  • In office-based roles in urban centers

Metallurgical Engineering : What will you study?

Your university course work will probably include:
  •  Corrosion Engineering
  •  Extraction Metallurgy
  •  Foundry
  •  Iron and Steel production
  •  Materials technology and Characterization (high-temperature materials, composites, etc.)
  •  Mechanical metallurgy
  •  Metal Forming
  •  Non-destructive Testing
  • Physical metallurgy
together with mathematics, calculus, chemistry, and physics among others.

salary

If you wish to work as manager or in research and development, a Masters or Ph.D. will be necessary. For management, you would also be responsible for preparing budgets and work schedules. For research, and for providing training to employees among other tasks. Monthly salaries for entry-level metallurgical engineers can average from Rs.50000 to Rs. 200,000 per month for a fresh graduate from IIT, NIT and GFTI’s.

You can also get your UG degree in Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering, geological , or some related field of study to work in this field.

What are The qualities of METALLURGY engineer ?

Your skill set should include:
  • Ability to perform fieldwork
  • Ability to operate and use machinery and welding equipment if necessary
  • Design mappings and drawings
  • Development of mining pits
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of characteristics and behaviors of various metals, and extraction methods
  • Perform metallurgical testing in a laboratory setting

Higher studies & Competitive exam

Taking the GATE exam administered by the IISc. is important for aspiring metallurgy engineers. The GATE syllabus for Metallurgical Engineering (MT) will assist you in preparing for this exam. The GATE exam will have a General Aptitude Section to prepare for as well. GATE scores are valid for two years. The I.A.S. or civil service exam is also an option, requiring serious preparation. All engineering graduates will have an advantage due to the rigorous engineering studies.

JEE main and advanced : What is Civil Engineering?
If you enjoy working in a metal shop or molding metals into new designs, this stream is for you. You’ll use a variety of metals, refine collection processes and create various alloys. This process begins deep within the earth where metals have settled over millions of years. You may be tomorrow’s engineering artist who extracts, separates or creates anew with these age-old materials.
