JEE mains tips and tricks : Civil Engineering for a better Environment

JEE Main Preparation Tips and Tricks Civil Engineering

JEE mains tips and tricks : Are you confused which branch you should join?Well let me help you. Today I will tell you about Civil Engineering.

Civil engineering can offer an exciting, fast-paced career for those interested in the world in which we live. It’s thanks to civil engineers that we have infrastructures that make life more convenient. Civil engineers are entrusted with the task of creating, improving and protecting the environment. They design and supervise the construction and maintenance of buildings and Infrastructures.

What Civil Engineers do?

These engineers are responsible for the planning and construction of:

  • Airports

  • Bridges

  • Dams

  • Harbors

  • Irrigation system

  • Power plants

  • Railways

  • Roads

  • Water and sewage systems

In other words, without civil engineers, what would our world be like? They also design and build large or tall structures that can withstand any weather conditions.

Civil engineers usually fall into one of two categories: consulting or contracting. Consultants usually work in design while contractors implement the designs during construction. They manage the building of the structure. Professional activities might include:

  • Calculations

  • Use of advanced computer software for detailed designs

  • Investigating potential sites and feasibility studies

  • Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact

  • Managing budgets and resources

  • Ordering and scheduling materials and equipment

  • Meeting with clients, architects, and contractors

  • Resolution of design and development difficulties

  • Oversight of compliance with legal and safety requirements

Some civil engineers will specialize in a particular discipline such as energy and power, Coastal/marine, water, or transportation.

Employers for civil engineers include:

  • Construction Companies

  • Government

  • Railroad companies

  • Utility companies

What is the average salary?

To get your undergraduate degree in civil engineering, you will study mathematics and particularly physics. Your goal will be to apply these scientific concepts to real-life situations for the design, realization, and maintenance of structures, that potentially thousands use on a daily basis. Your studies will include courses about hydraulics, geotechnics, mechanics, materials science and statistical analysis. You will also develop your design skills.

While a Masters degree is not necessarily required, it may enhance your career advancement opportunities. It most certainly would improve your technical knowledge. For example, if your goal is to be a structural engineer, undergrad courses will not be sufficient. Good civil engineers are always in demand. Monthly salaries can average from Rs.50000 on upward as an entry-level employee.

Higher Studies and Competitive Exam

Taking the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) administered by the Indian Institute of Science is important. The GATE exam tests students’ knowledge of their undergraduate studies in engineering and science. Many public sector interests hire through GATE scores. A good score will open many doors professionally. The I.A.S. or civil service exam is another option, which requires serious preparation. Any and all engineering graduates due to the discipline and organization required during their engineering studies.
